Dr. Mohamed Abdikarim Warsame

General Secretary, Somali Society of Gastroenterology Dr. Mohamed Abdi Warsame is a distinguished gastroenterologist and hepatologist serving as the General Secretary of the Somali Society of Gastroenterology. He earned his MBBS degree from Benadir University in 2015, where he also gained experience both as an academic lecturer and practicing clinician. Following his foundational medical training, Dr. Warsame pursued specialization in Gastroenterology in Russia, where he spent nearly three years honing his skills and graduated in 2020. During this period, he actively participated in numerous international conferences across Russia and other countries, earning several certifications that strengthened his clinical and academic expertise. After completing his specialization, Dr. Warsame further expanded his experience in Rwanda, joining the Kigali Teaching University Hospital (CHUk), Department of Endoscopy, where he received advanced training in endoscopic procedures and modern gastroenterology practices. Upon returning to Somalia, Dr. Warsame, together with his colleagues, founded the country’s first gastroenterology-specialized center, initially named SomGastro Clinic, which was later renamed Waaberi Hospital. Since 2020, Dr. Warsame has been actively working at this specialized GI center, providing high-quality care, advancing gastroenterology services. Dr. Warsame is committed to improving digestive health care across the country.
